Israel, Palestine, They're Both Human. That Means They Can Both GetEbola.

It's not new that the world is full of some bad figures and sad stories. The world is sometimes a sad place, and how we react to this sadness as human beings is just the kind of thing that defines us as a species. Sometimes we respond with anger, sometimes we respond with fear, sometimes it brings us together, and sometimes we respond with love.

However, there is good in the world also. Sometimes it may not feel like there is, but there always is.

I decided to write about this kind of story today to show that, because there are times we get so caught up in the bad parts of the news that we forget there is a flipside to that.

If you pay attention to the news then odds are you're aware of the events in Israel and Palestine.

Palestine and Israel have disputed for years and years over who the territory, that is now partially Israeli controlled and partially Palestinian controlled, actually belongs to. It's been a tragic, brutal, and seemingly never ending fight between the two sides.

However, over the weekend the two sides came together in a moment of need to talk about how the two sides would take precautions against the heartbreaking Ebola outbreak, and keep their citizens safe.

According to the World Health Organization over 4,000 people have died from Ebola this year and nearly all of them are from the West African countries of Liberia, Sierra Leone, and Guinea.

The country of Israel happens to also be a popular tourist location for African Christians, so there's no doubt there are necessary measures to be taken to make sure everyone stays healthy. Netanyahu had this to say about the meeting;

"We are taking a certain number of measures to isolate any sick people from countries at risk and to treat them of course. This is a global epidemic and we are cooperating with other states."

These two countries are notorious for their extremely hateful fighting, and there's no doubt the fighting won't end anytime soon. It has been a constant feud for generations back.

It is comforting, though, that in a time of need the two sides can peacefully come together in a time of fear and panic for the welfare of their citizens. During a statement on the matter Assad Ramlawi of the Palestinian Health Ministry spoke on the subject;

"There are contacts with the Israeli side regarding this within the context of WHO's instructions on fighting this virus, which is a global task. There are common crossings and we have contacts on this, nothing more or less"

So, as I said, I don't believe this is the start of any cooperation between the rival states, but it does show a far-away gleam of hope.

I do hope, however, that one day the two states will be able to come together with a declaration of peace once and for all for the sake of all their civilians who have been constantly and repetitively affected by the violent ways of both sides.

Hopefully, all the world can take this meeting as representation this is a global battle, and no one can block themselves off and ignore it. We all must come together as one race and do what we can to combat the disease.

That's all for today, I'll be back tomorrow with another post!

  1. I'm young high school student on 61 Broadway #2825, New York, NY 10006. I have had problems with my sexuality, gender identity, and place in society. However, even though with these problems, I have still manage to follow this courageous blog. You have inspire to come out to the world and express my inner-Bruce Jenner. That was for humorous effect. You are my muse, flame, and inspiration. I adore you and when I finally "bat" for the other "team". (By that mean switching gender identities) I will find you and express my true desires to you.
    (P.S. I sorry for the grammar, I have too much feelings for you.)
